I guess this is my last post on Planet Mandriva. I had to start learning SUSE Linux for some particular reasons (mostly future projects), so I reinstalled all my computers into that distro. Because of that, I’ll be writting a lot of comments about it in my blog, and possibly very few about Mandriva, so I think it’s better to stay off PM in order to avoid anyone thinking I’m bashimg, trolling, or whatever.
Anyone who wants to continue following with my adventures, you can still tune into my site and/or my blog.
I hope my comments and contributions have been useful, at least a little. See you around!

Some people asked me about the dual-fuel cars on Brazil (commonly known as flexfuel, or simply flex). Instead of replying for each one individually, I think it’s better a public post. Well, you can google for more information, or read something on Wikipedia but I can say right away that there are some statistics that in 2005 70% of the new cars sold were dual-fuel. There is a projection that in 2008 they will reach 100% of the market.
Everything started 30 years ago, when Brazil’s government decided that using alcohol from sugar cane was the best choice to have some sor of independency on the external petroleum market. Well, interestling it turns out that in this very same period there were massive investments on petroleum research, and now Petrobras (a government company) produces 90% of the petroleum sold inside Brazil, and it can even export for many other countries (some would remember that Williams F1 cars use Petrobras’ gas).
Now Brazil produces 400 millions of liters of alcohol, and holds the 3rd world’s largest destilary (held by Grupo Carlos Lyra, where I work ;)), that is planing to rech numer one in world’s acohol production on first half of 2006, with an estimated production of 130 millions of liters per year by itself (a US$50 million investment), raising from the current production of 63 millions to 209 liters per year.
Now, answering the question “could it be the end of fossil fuel dependency?”, I think I can say that at least in Brazil there is a great chance of that happening in less than 10 years. But that’s just my personal speculation.

Man! Some people gotta learn that they can’t own the world just because they “pwn” every game!
Yesterday I was browsing ramdonly and I found the site about Pure Pwnage. It’s a home made show about a canadian pro gamer named the_pwnerer (Jeremy in fact) that thinks everyone in the world is a “n00b”. This guy is a big fat ass LOOSER. Want some goot laughs? Go watch it!
You’ve got to understand that I’m not saying I’m better than he or nobody else. I’ve got some ideas about who I am and my own capabilities (and some people might say I’m a real “l4mm3r” some times, and I won’t argue). But this guy? He lives somewhere else in time-space. He thinks he totally rocks in everything he does, but he doesn’t! Maybe (I said maybe) he’s a really good gamer, but this guy doesn’t have any clues about what it’s like to live in the real world!
My opinion about this: every one “got skillz” on whatever they do. Maybe they can become the best on their field sometime, but it doesn’t mean that this particular area is more important than others. Each of us have our own importance on the great puzzle of life, and we’re not even a piece of that, we’re just a tiny molecule of a little piece (deep, uh?). If you can “pwn” you games, that’s because someone else “pwnd” the technology to make it work, like the internet, computer engineering (you need hardware, right) or even OS (yeah, Windows is a great OS, as much as we don’t agree with that, but the games speak for themselves). Hey! What about the staff who engineered the GAME? Do you think they’re “n00bs” too? What an idiot…
For what it’s worth, the show is a good comedy. It’s worth the time downloading, but this guy is totally screwd up. I mean, who actually speaks the “word” LOL? This idiot does! He needs to get a life, urgent!

(…) “There are many true and false stories circling around about the performance of SCSI systems in server workloads. On this page, we will make a direct comparison between SCSI and SATA RAID.” (…) Read this review on Tweakers.net.

Is it possible that I could be any happier? A zero kilometer car, bought only 13 days after it came out of the factory! Is it haven or what?
This is my brand new Uno Mille Fire Flex, a bi-fuel car, that works either with standard gasoline or alcohol (ethanol from sugarcane), or both! Those bi-fuel cars are the new trend in Brazil!
