I’m using rss2email. It’s a nice RSS reader that sends you an e-mail message for every feed entry. It’s really annoying having to check Firefox’s active bookmars, and I couldn’t find any usable feed reader plugin that suits my needs.

Anyway, after having about 5 feeds I decided to go for Free Software Planet. After about a month receiving up to 500 posts a day (FSP + many other feeds), I realized that I was spending almost 3 hours of my day reading blog posts.

Be careful. When things turn to be too much easy, you tend to addict to them.

I finally bought a wireless card for my home PC. It’s an Airlink AWLH3025 that works out-of-the-box with my SUSE 10.0. It’s great that the only thing I had to do was running YOU, fetching installacx111firmware.sh, and configure the card on YaST just like any other wireless card. I might say it was easier than configuring a Linksys WPC54G with ndiswrapper. Now I can have my notebook connected to the internet at home without a 3mt LAN cable across my living room.

Finalmente comprei uma placa wireless para meu PC em casa. �? uma Airlink AWLH3025 que funcionou de primeira com meu SUSE 10.0. Gostei do fato de só ter que rodar o YOU, instalar o installacx111firmware.sh e configurar a placa com o YaST como se fosse um wireless qualquer. Devo dizer que foi bem mais fácil do que configurar uma Linksys WPC54G com o ndiswrapper. Agora posso ter meu notebook conectado à internet em casa sem ter um cabo de 3mt atravessando minha sala.

I saw an interesting blog posting about Your Ultimate Sci-Fi Profile II: which sci-fi crew would you best fit in? and decided to try it. Boy, how could one make this so close to the truth? I love Stargate SG-1, and I do beleive that a huge part of X-Files is true. Here are my results:

I’ve just finished watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (IMDB). I was first dragged by it because of the amazing graphics quality. Oh yeah. CGI is almost there! Some times you can be really confused about what is real and what is not (hint: nothing is real).

After 1h40m of a very nice orchestrated film (great greaphics, nice music, good rythm) I finished up with more questions than I started. Mostly because I’ve never played any of the famous saga games (there are 13, AFAIK), I’ve already watched The Spirits Within, which gave me a nice taste of the saga. However, besides the references to a “higher earth power” (Gaia on “Spirits Within” or Lifestream on “Advent Children”) the stories are very much different. Either they are, or I’m too blind to see the similarities.

Anyway. Apart from the hiper-exagerated swords, and the characteristic japanese-cartoon type battles, it’s worth the time spent.

Há algum tempo atrás eu vi um post no blog do Claudio Matsuoka sobre uma série chamada The Lone Gunmen. Apesar da série já ter sido cancelada (infelizmente só durou meia temporada), resolvi dar uma olhada. Baixei os vídeos e gostei do que vi. �? uma série meio deturpada e estereotipada, mas inteligente e interessante. Sugiro uma olhada para quem gosta de temas como teoria da conspiração, hackers éticos, e muito palavreado geek.

Para aqueles que não tem um inglês tão bom, e não conseguem se virar de ouvido, eu traduzi as legendas do inglês para português. Como eu não tenho muito tempo pra isso, fiz o primeiro episódio em três dias. Não garanto quando vou conseguir os outros, mas já é um começo.
