ramkumar commented on an earlier post called “RH401: Passed” that he didn’t know what RHCDS mean. To serve a wider public, I am going to post a few links of interest for those who want to understand what goes around Red Hat Certifications:
- Red Hat Training main page
- .RHCE - This is the regular certification. It means you are able to manage Red Hat systems in a general manner.
- RHCDS - This certifies that you are a little over a regular administrator, and you have datacenter skills.
- RHCSS - This certifies your skills/knowledge of fine tuning security on Red Hat systems.
- RHCA - This certifies that you have further knowledge, and is prepared for the “enterprise” systems (clusters, virtualization, etc).
Some of the courses overlap, some are specific. Read the descriptions, check the courses, and define your path.
I don’t know worldwide, but I can say that in USA and Brazil, RHCE is a pretty strong certification (better than LPI), and RHCA is rapdly becoming of higher importance.
Have fun!
